A message from club medical advisor Dr. John Goldener:
The number of new cases of COVID-19 both in the USA and in our community has been increasing at an alarming rate. This is not just flu; COVID has claimed more than 250,000 lives in our country. Because of this, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has recommended a new mask policy, which we have adopted for member use while on club grounds.
Under the new policy, adults should wear masks in public settings when around people not of one's own household. Note that masks are no substitute for social distancing. Please wear a mask AND keep social distance.
The CDC makes an exception when you are outside alone and away from others. We interpret this to apply to anyone on a court alone.
So, when you are on a court alone, you needn't wear a mask. Otherwise, we ask that whenever you are on club grounds and not alone on a court, you wear a mask. We recognize that this can be an inconvenience, but it is a small thing to ask when our goal is to keep everyone safe in the face of a serious epidemic.
